BMW M6 Front

– This Saturdays edition of Rides features the BMW M6.  This is my older brother Matts car and it is such a sick ride.  This M6 is a Rear Wheel Drive,  5.0 liter V10 with 500 horsepower.  If you are thinking about scooping one off the lot its going to cost you about $100,000.

Some of the main features of the M6 are…The ride comes equipped with 7-speed Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) with drivelogic for performance and Efficiency.  500 HORSEPOWER : High performance from high-speed engines: that’s the philosophy of BMW M. This compact, high-revving, V-10 power unit develops enormous thrust and muscle that’s always on tap. At 5.0 liters of displacement and 500 horsepower, the V-10 produces 100 horsepower per liter – a remarkable feat for a naturally aspirated production engine. And its power-to-weight ratio of one horsepower per each eight pounds is a figure more representative of a racecar than one you’d have in your driveway.  A Carbon Fiber Roof : Intelligent construction is the key to extraordinary performance. The carbon-fiber roof of the M6 Coupe – a first in series production – shares the same safety properties as steel, but is four times lighter. The roof helps lower the M6’s center of gravity, lifting speed while limiting dive and roll in bends. Weight reductions in the front of a car, in particular, yield enhanced agility and handling, for even higher speeds around curves.

There are so many details to list.  You can peep them all here at the BMW website.

The car is amazing and when the peddle is pushed it throws you back into your just enough to feel the performance with the mix of amazing comfort.  I remember rolling with Matt in a few cars that literally scared the shit out of me when he would get on the gas.  Surprisingly this one didn’t really scare me even though when I would look down at the speedometer we would be doing 90 through downtown Tampa.  The ride is so smooth that you just don’t feel afraid of the true utter power of the M6 engine.  Oh and for Matt its not a bad 30th birthday gift to buy yourself…
