Sunset Sunday | Tioga Pass Mission

Sunset Sunday | Tioga Pass Mission

Sunset in Tioga Pass

Tioga Pass in California is an amazing place to go snowboarding, to go splitboarding and to truly enjoy the sunset.  This is the gateway to Yosemite Valley from the East and the magic from this overbearing spiritual mountainous terrain can really put you in your place.  I recently did a splitboard mission in Tioga during the evening hours with my sister and two friends Alex and Anne.  Same crew that did the Bloody Couloir Mission..

This trip to Tioga was an extremely spiritually powerful mission for me.. I put myself in the hands of faith, no ropes, in situations where ropes would be essential.  In other words, climbing with all my camera gear, and splitboard set up, in a definite NO FALL ZONE..  That story is to come on Snowrev but for now I want to share these sunset photos with you..  This is what I directly encountered minutes after a true near death experience.. I was alive, I was happy to be alive and the world blessed me with an amazing view to appreciate it..

I enjoyed this sunset for so long that my run down was a solo mission in the dark.. I could not see my line, no lights and no guide since the rest of the pack had dropped well before I made my move..  That story will be pretty ill.. I will let you know when it drops..

– I love this photo because if you look closely you can see my sister Megan and Anne (tiny dots on the left) on their way to the drop zone.. These girls are no joke.
